Thoughts on this 73

I kinda like this one.

That is a very nice car. I have no clue how it could look that nice and be from that region.

Scary from there…look it over well before buying, but maybe it got put away each fall?

It’s uncommon for car from that area to be that nice, but not impossible. Remember the photos of my wife’s Tbird? Car spent its entire life if central Illinois, the land of long snowy winters, salt, rear wheelwell clingons, etc. I grew up there and never had a car disintegrate, but always cleaned the underside, wheelwells, the area between the fenders and frame, & never let any buildup accumulate on the wheelwells/rear of fenders. The Galaxie my Dad just got? Midwestern car. I would say it was probably garaged in winter like my wife’s Tbird, and my Cougar.

It takes a LOT more care if you drive a car in winter in that region, but you can keep a driver nice for a very long time if you’re willing to spend the time. Oh yeah, and making sure the entire underside is painted/undercoated.

My guess as a low mile convertible it was never a daily driver, sunny days only. Keep in mind 73 was the last year of the convertible for Ford and many folks bought one just because they knew it was now or never. There are more 1973 low mile rag-tops than any other year of Cougar.

It’s gone.
Someone got a nice Cat.

If it has that extra-neat, extra metallic flake dark green like I think it does from the pictures, man…
