Could someone post of a photo of the correct throttle linkage on the carburetor of a 67 base manual ?
Mine had been fiddled with would like to know how it’s supposed to be.
Mostly interested in understanding where and how to attach the spring.
What i have doesnt match the drawings in the shop manual.
If your current carburetor base doesn’t have a good place to hook it, you can also hook the spring to a hole at the bottom of the throttle plate linkage (if that’s the right term). The plate that the actual rod hooks into on the carb, that pivots. But not all carbs are set up the same way, and you’d want to make sure it can move through its entire travel without catching on the spring. You’d probably want to use the ‘skinny end’ of the spring instead of the end with coils to prevent interference.
It’s how I set it up when I foolishly put a Holley on my original '67, and it worked fine.
289 2 barrels indeed.
Thanks - i have the electronic version of the shop manual and the diagram is hard to read, so that helps !!
Here is how it was when i removed the old carb, didnt look right
