Belated Merry Christmas from me to everyone. I see that several have posted randomly some of the things they got from the Big Man or a spouse or significant other…
Let’s list them all here…
I got a Summit gift card, my GoodGuys membership was renewed, and I got the entire five seasons of “Friday Night Lights” in a DVD box set.
We are at the point in our lives that the Mrs. and I do not buy for each other, we just get what we want and need as the opportunity comes up. But we still get a lot at Christmas. Mostly in smiles and satisfaction for what we do for others. Like the 5 year old boy and 9 year old girl that we bought the wish list for from the angel tree. The meals we contributed to by spending a ridiculous price on a silent auction for some worthless print that benefited the local rescue center. By buying countless raffles tickets for a front row parking spot at work that benefited a food pantry (I didn’t win darn it!). But the highlight are the smiles I get when I put on my Santa Rig and visit some kids and hand out some goodies. Yup I got a lot out of Christmas this year!
From my parents, by way of WCCC, got the USA-1 stereo (AM/FM/Cass/Aux) that I had asked for. Also got the bonus hat with it, which I love and have been wearing almost nonstop. Gotta find out how to do the RMA thing since the stereo says Mustang and has the ponies on the cassette door, even though the WCCC tag on the box says 1967-1973 Cougar.
From my sister I got a book of how to do a bunch of home improvement on the cheap.
Other than that, just got money from folks (including the $ from my wife, we each got a budget of how much we could spend picking gifts to ourselves from each other, which guarantees we get stuff we’d like!) and spent almost all of it on a gift cert for myself from WCCC that I bought just before midnight their time. Said the deadline for the 10% bonus was 12/24, I made it by like an hour. Lol
I’m gonna get a bunch of parts for the car. So looking forward to it!!!
I got a copy of “The idiots guide to the Kama Sutra”.
I’m joshin’. Got a VERY nice watch. A Citizen Eco-Drive… I’m kind of afraid to wear it. (I truly have NO business having “nice” things)
The wife and I had “kind of” agreed to go light this year. I still have to throw several hundred dabloons at her Daytona by way of total brake job and new tires.
Well, I got the Body hammers(already discussed in the Project forum), socks, Tee-Shirts, and Jeans.
Mrs. Sleepycat Made out good this year too! She got a Matco Jacket, Some nice Blouses, and a “Baby Sinclair” doll(She Collects dolls & stuffed Animals). This has been our first Celebrated X-mas Since the Big “C” came to town!
Got a couple of nice gifts.
The Mr. Beer home brewing kit, always wanted to try home brewing.
And tickets to the musical “The Million Dollar Quartet”. http://marcuscenter.org/Million-Dollar-Quartet-Milwaukee-Tickets.html
Saw the Jersey Boys last year, this one looks to be as good.
Nothing for the Cougar, I’ll be buying parts for that in the spring.
Equus 5568 fancy, new fangled timing light (thanks to Art for the recommendation in some thread here), convertible top cylinders (mine leak a bit), PS reverse light lense, assorted weatherstrip to make a few refinements to my current configuration, SS upper rad bracket, clutch pedal pad and bezel (mine keeps coming loose).
Book: How to make your Muscle Car Handle (my wife found this at Barnes & Noble, gotta love her!).
Got two pair of Wranglers, a Hawaiian shirt (can’t wait til spring!), couple of nice Sandford novels; and from my son, a copy of True Grit on Blu-Ray… the JOHN WAYNE version!
As 2ndxrnd mentioned; the wife and I don’t really go buy presents for each other at Christmas; saves money to spend on stuff for the kids/grandkids. Sent quite a bit dough a goodies Back East for the oldest one and her husband and MY grandson in North Carolina; sent some Up North to the younger daughter and her husband in Colorado Springs. Spent quite a bit here at home on the ‘adopted daughter’ and her kids. Seems like watching the kids enjoy their stuff is worth more than anything one would find under the tree. However it IS almost time for a six-pack of new socks for myself, but the wife said “Not for Christmas”. Guess I have a pretty good idea what my birthday present is going to be!
Besides the nice 'period-correct" holster that UPS should be delivering before the B-day. Nice new one to custom fit my 5-1/2" replica Remington cap ‘n’ ball pistol. Will also make my S&W 629 ‘happy’; as it will get to re-take residence in the Safariland holster that I originally bought for the Smith.
Oh yeah… didn’t get a blessed thing for my wife! However, HER HORSE stole my Discover Card and bought her some nice new saddle-leather items from Billy Cook Saddlery. She likes them, and I assume he does, too.
This was actually a Christmas gift for myself. I bought it thinking I could use it for storage more than anything and I’d just give away the cheap hardware. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived yesterday to discover the SAE stuff is grade 5 and the metric is grade 8.8. Not the best, but much better than I was expecting. I’m actually thinking about ordering another one.
The only car thing I got was an Original California Car Duster ™ with storage bag, “As Seen on TV.”
Also got two pillows from the Bellagio in Vegas… I’m sleeping better already. I didn’t know hotels sold stuff like that until I tried to find out where they got them after I stayed there a month or two ago. Another guy I know bought a whole bed with sheets, pillows, etc. from a hotel after he stayed at a place and found it a good fit.
