Time to come clean / spill the beans

I’ve been hoping someone could give a review of the ecoboost I4. If I were in the market for a new car, that would be my choice for a driver/commuter the ecoboost would be my voice. I’m familiar with the turbo fours of days past (turbo coupe and so mustang) and had great fun with both (a LOT of IROC guys saw my tail lights in those cars), so I may have to go to my local dealer and at least try one. The ecoboost six in my Step-dad’s F150 is pretty stout, so no doubt your 'stang will probably hustle.

Just remember that ecoboost engines are pretty thirsty.

Here is the newest addition to the fleet:

Dang! That thing looks clean! What year? I’m not too familiar with Corvette’s.

Beautiful. My wife has always wanted a '70-'79. I would too if my 6’2" 230 lb frame fit a little better. My former mandolin player had a '79 and it drove great once I stuffed myself in it. I wasn’t an L82 car, so it wasn’t very fast, but handled like a slot car. That’s a beuatiful ride.

Not trying to poke a bear with a stick ,but do those license plates say RayRay? “If Ray Ray comes around lookin’ for me, you don’t go droppin’ the dime…Do you?” Sorry, I had to quote a sketch from Impractical Jokers.

That’s my favorite body style Vette.

It’s a '69 L48 with 63K original miles, according to the title history. It’s also my favorite color combination for the Corvette. It will be displacing BBCat, which will be going up for sale sometime in the next few weeks (as soon as I can get it to the shop and up on the lift for undercarriage pictures). We’ll still have a foot in the Cougar world with B3Cat, though.

Guitar74, the plate does indeed say RAYRAY. The sellers name is Ray.

That car reminds me of Larry Tate.

Sorry it reminded me of one of my favorite sketches from that program. It’s a beautiful example and I hope you enjoy it.

There is something inherently wrong with replacing a Cougar with a Corvette.

Beautiful 'vette. Love the color and the redlines.

The L48 cars are among the best Corvettes overall. Quick, well balanced and lower maintenance than the solid lifter versions. Lovely car, congratulations !

Scratch the itch. Life is short.

I think these are great looking cars, some of them develop a lot of squeaks and odd rattles that bothers me but probably won’t bother everyone. Kind of like wind noise from Cougar vent windows… drives some people crazy, others don’t even notice.

Not when you have two and are keeping one?

I was on an LT-1 kick for awhile…had a Coupe and a 'Vert. Literally the BEST driving of the old cars I’ve had over the years, hands down! Super cool and life IS (too) short – have fun with the new toy.

New addition to the team. 1988 LX 5.0 Notch. Low miles, a bit ratty but ZERO rust. This is a project for me and my 16 year old. Great cars, epic parts availability and anvil simple to work on.

First order of business is suspension. struts, shocks, C-springs, rear control arms and 5 lug conversion (to allow a better wheel/tire package). Can’t wait!

Nice! I had an '87 GT for a while. It was a fun car. I never did a whole lot to it, but I did manage to get rid of a bunch of squeaks by putting a strut tower brace and subframe connectors on it. One of my other mods was going from a 2.73 gear to a 3.73 gear. HUGE improvement and even helped out gas mileage in most driving conditions. Like you said, lots of choices for modifications. Sounds like you already have a pretty good list started. Have fun!

Absolutely - subframe connectors are also part of phase 1!

Can’t beat an old fox body stang for a good first father/son project. Ditto on the five lug conversion andvstrut tower brace.

Perfect car for a young guy, good to see dads and sons wrenching together.
