I was looking to see of my Marti report showed if I had wheel well trim, but it does not. I would think if it was stated, the car would have came with them. While I was looking it over more, It says that my windshield is tinted, but the rest of the glass on the car is clear. From what I can remember when I cleaned it and shored it away, It only had a tinted strip across the top, “which is now brown” but looks like the windshield it’s self is clear not tinted.
What is meant by a tinted windshield, Does this just mean the strip across the top?
I have also heard that you can’t get a new tinted windshield but only the blue strip across the top, is this true?
Thanks.
I’m not sure about the tinted glass but I was under the impression that all 1st generation Cougars had wheel well trim except for the GT-E. The GT-E had side trim that went over the wheel wells and down the body line. I think a lot of cars have the wheel well trim removed because there are no reproductions and restored trim commands a hefty price.

Thanks guys, I will have a look for the trim, everything was boxed up and is stored up in different areas. Im thinking on getting all new tinted glass for the car, just not sure about the Marti reports meaning of tinted windshield, full tint or Just blue across the top?
I went through the link and found that you can only get one or the other, not both tinted windshield and tinted glass. So the Marti says for my car, I have a tinted Windshield, Please explain what a tinted windshield means for me, please.
I would like to know the meaning of Tinted Windshield. Is this just the blue strip across the top of the windshield or is this an actual tinting that is from top to bottom with also the blue strip across the top?
I remember when cleaning up the glass before putting it up in my attic, I placed a piece of white paper on one side of the glass and to me there was no tint. This is why Im trying to figure out, the definition of a
(tinted windshield)
Thanks Al, now that brings up the options question then, Why wouldn’t you be able to get tinted glass and the windshield top section blue strip as well. Maybe the tinted glass included that?
Carlite sun-x throughout with an additional 5" wide heavy tint along the top of the windshield…tinted glass option. My '67 also has a tinted back glass, but I cannot locate the Carlite sun-x etching. May have rubbed off, similar to the pass. side glass etch which was very faint. They sure made good glass back in the day…45 years later and all the glass still looks great!
Thanks guy’s, that helps explain the options. 1967scode, I see the blue strip on yours has turned a different color as well, like mine. I will have to see if Don is willing to ship a good tinted windshield with a good blue strip at the top.
You can still buy new Carlite windshields for Mustangs and Cougars. Obviously the date code is not correct and the Carlite logo is a different color, but it is a brand new Carlite windshield.
Scott, can you share where I would be able to get a new one? There is a place in Michigan someplace that you can get a windshield new, but I don’t think it is tinted, only the blue strip across the top.
Thanks Scott, earlier today I called Speedy Autoglass here in town and when I was out, when they called back. Apparently they can get a windshield but it is not a Carlite. Carlite is not available at all in Canada and the brand she said she had was,… If I heard it right (recording was quiet) was PTG. I have never heard of PPG, but she didn’t leave a price ether. I contacted the link Catlover left for PS Auto glass and Im just waiting for them to contact me back. Im thinking Im just going to have them ship to my USA shipping address and go from there. It is a good price:) Just not sure of shipping and how large the container will be.
As for a rear window, that is not avalable in Canada ether.
No sure how this works, but PS Auto glass just asked me if I wanted it date coded? I told them that my cars build date was January 10 1968.
So to get glass that is date coded, do you just get glass that is from the same time peariod when the car was built?
Order Received = 12/08/67

Window etching info and layout… on a Cougar which was built in May 1967. How to decode the glass???
The CarLite logo is written out similar to the original Coca Cola logo.

I am in Canada and I got it from my local glass shop. Check with some other shops in your area, someone will be able to get in the Carlite glass. If you need date coded (concourse show car, or something like that), then I would get it. If it is no extra cost… why not get date coded.
No one is reproducing the back glass, so if your’s is no good, then you will need to source some good used.
Good luck.
