I currently have 195/75r/14 tires on my 68 base model. Can I put on a large 14 inch tire? Don’t want to buy new 15 inch Cragers
There are not many 14 inch tires to choose from. The BF Goodrich F70 / P215R14 radial fits great if you can find it.
Here’s the other one that’s available. I run these and really like them.
The link you shared did not work for me. If you know a tire size for Cooper that they have in stock that will fit his '68 it would help.
215/70R14 is available
Their website apparently won’t link directly by size.
Same result with the link as I had. But you are correct about 215/70R14 being a great fit. It is closest to factory Goodyear Polyglas F70-14, and Cooper has the Cobra Radial GT in that size.
Just for reference, here are some measurements comparing my original Goodyear Polyglas RWL wide tread (optional large tire) spare to the Cooper Cobra Radial G/T.
Tire: Goodyear Polyglas RWL vs. Cooper Cobra Radial G/T
Size: F70-14 215/70R14 225/70R14
Diameter: 25.9" 25.8" 26.3"
Overall width: 8.6" 8.5" 8.9"
Tread width: 6.5" 7" 7.2"
Sidewall height: 5.9" 5.9" 6.2"
I chose the slightly smaller diameter 215 series because to me, the sidewall height and overall width look too big on the 225 series.
Hi, Thanks for the info but after looking for 14 inch w/w tires I could only find a Union Royal Tiger Paw size 205 75R14 tire w/w. I am not sure if this 75R tire will fit in the wheel well without scraping the inner fender wheel well or any other part of the fender. Right now with the 195 75r tire it is real close to the fender lip molding. Any thoughts?
The 205 series tire is skinnier than the original equipment tire but the 75 series is a bit taller than original. Seems like it should fit but the original was a slightly different shape.
