I bought my ‘67 Cougar around 5-6 years ago. For a midwest car it didn’t have much rust. This being a reflection of it’s 50,000 miles. Well, the PO didn’t have the title so I had him sign the form to requisition a new title. Forward to a few days ago. With the form in hand I went down to the Sec of State to get the first title in his name. The girl was no help. No records of the car and lots of cash needed and more forms to fill out. So I had a name and a number. The number was no good. I looked him up online and some manufacturing things came up but no address. As I was diddling around on facebook, I thought I’d do a search for him. Low and behold his name came up. So, I sent him a friend request and a message about the plight of the title. He called me that night explaining how his mother had passed away and as he was going through her stuff…he found the title. Just thought I’d share my "bit o’ luck"
with yas. Have a great day.
Wow, that was lucky. Should be easy to get it transfered now.
Rodbender, what state are you in?
Glad it worked out OK. I had about the same thing just happen on a 67 I just bought where the owner couldn’t find the title. He had the Cougar for 25 yrs and his dad is the previous owner. He tracked the title down and his dad had it in his safe. When he gave his son the Cougar as a teenager he kept the title in his name just in case Junior got into trouble he could always take the car back. They both got a good laugh out of it…
