Torque for fuel pump bolts

I am replacing the mechanical fuel pump on my 68….small block 302 with a holly 4BBL carb….does anyone know the torque to tighten the 2 bolts for the pump to? Thanks!….CATDOC

Tighten until snug, then go 1/4 turn.

Not sure about the accuracy of the numbers here:

For a 1966 289 fuel pump it shows : 12 - 15 foot pounds ( which is the same as the front cover bolts in this chart from Main Mustang:

Scott Taylor taught me this one… German engineering spec: gutentite.

Thanks!….i figure fuel pump would be virtually same as oil pump bolts.

Thought that was the polite response to a sneeze?

Sounds like a good rule of thumb if actual torque spec in doubt…thanks

gutentite = good and tight

Lol……I was joking

Exactly. No need to overthink this.

When in doubt RTM

Hey…just a follow up that may be of interest regarding replacing my fuel pump on my 68 302. Replaced it because I was seeing a slight leakage of gas around the crimp between the 2 halves of the pump. I did a post Morten exam on the old pump by uncrimping it 360 degrees with a channel lock pliers and found that the diaphragm was cracking all the way around it and was apparently leaking gas under pressure which seeped out the weep hole in the top half of the pump. Changed oil and filter in case any gas found its way into the oil. Has been running great since.
