Trans Am Cougar question from 1970

Hi
As the owner of the Bob Estes Cougar Trans Am race car, I field questions about Cougar race history questions from the Historic Trans Am web site. I just received a question for which I have no idea of the answer. Evidently, a Cougar was entered in the 1970 Mt Tremblant Trans Am race for Michel Tremblay. According to some history that I have located, the car lasted one lap before withdrawing because of electrical problems. Does anyone know the story behind this car? Below is the email sent to me:

Michael,
We received this e-mail from the Historic Trans Am Website; please let us know if you can help with a responce.

Subject: Cougar question

Hello,
I am on the regulation group for CVAR in Texas, and one of our members has asked about a 1969 Cougar. He wants to know if one was raced in the Trans-Am in 1972 or earlier. I show a Michel Tremblay finishing last at Mont Tremlant in 1970. Do you know what year that car was?
Thanks,

Hey Michael, welcome!

That’s a new one on me. I’ve been meaning to comb thru all my vintage programs and magazines - if I spot anything I’ll be sure to post it.
