Trunk filler boards etc

Hi guys,
Ive recently purchased a few bits and bobs to dress up my trunk area.
I have the pair of trunk filler cards but they seam to be a bit lite, should they be scewed down ?
Even with the push out flapes they dont seam very secure ?
My other quaundry is the tail light protectors.
Does any one have a photo of how they are suposed to fit in ?
Which end goes which way…

im new to the cougar world so im on a learning curve …

What year Cougar are you working on?

I don’t know about all the years, but 67 at least the filler boards just sit in place. Weight of trunk mat holds them down. The repro taillight protectors take some modifying to fit. The folding creases seem to be off a bit, and don’t count on the pre-punched screw holes to line up with where your original screws were. When you fold them do it against a nice straight edge to get a good fold. I may have even did a slight score on the back side lightly with a blade as they didn’t seem like they wanted to bend the greatest even then.

Sorry, 69 Convert

If you haven’t figured it out , I’ll try to help. The cardboard has fold impressions and cutouts for the fuel filler, the larger fold side go up and fits under the trunk lip, the shorter side goes down and tucks in under the lights, then the ends get folded in toward the back for the wires to go through, one of the top holes in the cardboard will line up with the hole already in the support beside the fuel filler for your screw . Hope this helps.

Trunk filler board and taillight protector pics. I hope this helps!

Thanks guys, i will have another crack at it tomorrow. :hugs:

Well, i tried and i tried, but eventualy i had to trim a bit here and there to get the darn things to fit…!
The filler boards are sitting there at present but i think when the trunk insulation kit comes, i will screw them down .
