Trying to find my old '70 std hrd top

Looking for my mother’s 1970 standard hardtop.

Good luck in your search, have you tried contacting Phil Parcells with the VIN at: registry@cougarclub.org , he is the CCOA database registrar.

If you think it might still be in KS you can contact the DMV there and see if they’ll contact the current owner for you. In Iowa there was a form for that and that’s how we found my wife’s first car. Great present when getting back from our honeymoon to hear a voice on the machine saying they were interested in selling her first car back to us. Because of the sentimental attachment and stuff the DMV even waived the fees they normally have for doing the search (likely the fees are to deter businesses from pursuing lots of specific cars).

Phil checked the database for me. No luck.

Kansas is one of the few states that will not release DMV data to civilians. Have to hire a PI to do a search.

Iowa didn’t release it to me, they contacted the current owner with my information so I had no idea who he was until he called me. Thus no issues with releasing private info. It took some digging on the state sites to find the right contact to explain what I was trying to do and she got me the form and everything on-line so I just filled it out and mailed it in – though that was a few years ago (15ish).

I’ll give them a call. It’s been a couple of years since I tried that with Kansas. At that time they wouldn’t do that but who knows now? Can’t hurt.

A local Cat here looked like that one. A past member named Cris K had it for sale for almost a year. I believe it was sold about 1.5 years ago. I’ll try to get some info for you to rule this in or out.

Been a couple of years on this old thread. I did find a bit more about the old girl through the Kansas DMV. Last registered there in 1999. I actually spoke to the next to last known owner who had two pictures of her from the late-1990s. Sadly the salt was having its way and it’s now my belief she was scrapped. Oh well, good memories anyway. But just in case, if you ever see a white standard with houndstooth interior, let me know.

If you reach out to Phil he will let you know of others just like it or close.
