turn signal switch wire in steering wheel

Good afternoon all!

I trust your 4th went well and hope you were able to enjoy some time with friends and family!

I have a 70 Eliminator that the turn signals do not work. Long story, short version. Looked like the next step was to replace the turn signal switch under the steering wheel. I have one from Branda, a Scott Drake, and am installing it now. At the switch end, there is a purple wire with a small plastic “square box” that looks (to me) like it would be involved with the ignition lock cylinder. It is just a single wire. The old switch had it cut off and the end taped. I can not figure out where it goes. It has a small hole for a screw to retain it.

I’ll attach two pics for reference. The old one I took out, and the new one as it is now. I’d like to finish this up over the weekend, so, any and all help is appreciated. My personal email is kbaileyhunter@gmail.com if you have a pic or a link to a pic. Thanks a ton Cougar gang!!

Found it! Good ole youtube got me there. The new switch comes with a small plastic protective housing over the contact at the end of the wire. It had to be removed. Then it fit right in where it is supposed to be.

That is the “Key-in-ignition” switch introduced in 1970. It triggers a buzzer under the dash when the key is in the ignition and the ignition is off.
It is there to remind you to take your keys with you.
