under hood and trunk lights

Does anyone make the lights where a switch turns them on automatically when the hood is open with that mercury switch or whatever it is based on the angle of the hood or trunk when it’s open and level when closed?

Do they work with LEDs?

Here are some choices, I’m sure there are others. These all work with mercury switches when trunk or hood go up, so they will work fine with LED replacement bulbs. I’m running LED bulbs in these in my 70 XR7 factory sockets. It’s great I don’t worry about battery drain with them open for hours at car shows. They run cool and bright.

Could you please take and post a photo of your trunk light installed so I can see where I need to mount the light? I took your advice and got the trunk light from West Coast classic cougars but I am unclear as to where it mounts on the trunk lid.
Thank you, Tim

The bulb socket mounts in the rectangular opening on the drivers side of trunk back. The power wire runs up from the center opening on the front of the trunk lid. There should be plastic ring protecting the wire in the round opening, mine is missing. The wire runs up the diagonal reinforcement on the trunk lid. I’m using an LED bulb. I took it our for one picture so you could see the socket and the mounting screw.

Hope that helps

Thank you very much. The information you provided is perfect. I really appreciate it. Best wishes and stay healthy, Tim
