Vacuum Reservoir

Hello;

I am trying to resurrect my tilt/tilt away column in my 67 Cougar. I have the original vacuum reservoir with the metal check valve but it is only holding vacuum for about 24 hours. I was thinking about getting a new one with the plastic check valve & was wondering if anyone has used one these & if it works like the original. Mine does have the 2 nipple version that was mounted under the battery tray.

Thanks

I am trying to imagine why you would need one that holds vacuum longer than 24 hours. Seems like you would have got out of the car within a few minutes of turning the engine off.

From my understanding, once you get back into the car a day or 2 or 3 later, you need the vacuum to move the steering wheel from the tilt away position to the drive position.

No, you can just pull it into position and it will lock there. Vacuum is only needed to have it automatically swing away.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it needed vacuum to move the steering wheel back. I will go ahead & get everything mounted & see what happens.
Thanks
