I found, and bought a couple of very cool laser etched Cougar PCV covers. However, I didn’t think the purchase all the way through, as they don’t have the finger type push in, but rather the smooth, short tube that pushes into a rubber grommet. There is a grommet that fits into the valve cover tube, but it doesn’t look right. So, can you just twist the vent tube out? Or is it pressed in? Has anyone tried to remove the tube? I want to add this to the running cat valve covers-
If you have my Scott Drake running cat covers, you should be able to remove the tube sticking up on the driver side as an oil filler by removing the two retaining screws on the inside.
Then I think the tube will drop out through the bottom.
I’m now thinking about how to mount a screw in oil filler cap. Anyone know of an adapter that could make that work?
That’s exactly what I am looking at- I wasn’t sure if the tube could be pushed out, or if it was welded. I don’t want to ruin such an expensive (for what they are, they are expensive to me!) bit of eye candy. I have other ‘extra’ valve covers, some chrome ones, some Cobra ones, with open and closed lettering. I bought a used pair of Cobra valve covers that somebody painted almost the exact color of my 68 (or, the color it will be when it gets painted,) and might try and pull that vent tube, and add the cat breather to the Cobra covers. IDK…
