Three 69-73 Wire Spoke
Four completely beat-up 71-73 XR7
Two 68 wheel covers.
Would those XR-7 caps work with other rims? My wheels have spinners that I think look sorta silly, I’ve been wanting to replace them with Cougar-specific caps. But I assume that they’re not plug-and-play such that they’d work with my wheels. If there’s a way that they would, I’d love the caps.
I don’t recall how those XR7 caps are affixed to the hub. I’ll dig them back out in the next day or two and take a closer look, along with some measurements. I’ll keep you posted!
Those wire wheel covers were used from 1970 to 1973. Not available in 1969. There are a really heavy wheel cover, high quality, and the spokes are real metal - not plastic. Originally these wheel covers cost almost as much as the styled steel wheels! I personally don’t care too much for them, but they do look classy, especially with white wall tires.
Appreciate the clarification on the non-69. http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com/69wirecap.html is what I used for reference, and it’s listed as D0WY-1130-D, I guess WCCC is allowed a mistake here and there! Now that you mention it, yeah, those covers are quite heavy. I may have to weigh one just to see how hefty they really are!
Interesting…
70-73 Cougar Wire Wheel Cover: 4 lbs-13.5 ounces
67-68 Cougar Wire Wheel Cover: 2 lbs-13.5 ounces
67-68 Cougar Std Wheel Cover: 1 lbs-13 ounces
Hey Dave, I would be interested in the wire wheel covers if you don’t have any takers yet. No rush, let me know what shipping costs would be to Chandler, Arizona, 85224. Thanks, Scott
Did you happen to check if the center caps detach from the covers?
Scott, you’re the first to ask, so they’re yours if the shipping doesn’t scare you away! Having trouble finding a box big enough, I’ll have to scrounge around at work tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The hubs are all one piece, there’s no separating the assembly pictured. It’s just under five inches in diameter, so I doubt that would work for you. What about the Fenton hub sitting next to it? It’s about 3.25 inches in diameter, wondering if that might be the proper size for your wheels? If so, might want to check around auto parts or off-road stores for some.
Scott, took way too long to get back to you. It’s $15.65 to ship to you via USPS Parcel Post. If OK, PM me your address and I’ll get these sent out to you. We can work out payment at a later date.
