I’m considering buying a storage lift for the Cougar and my Crossfire so I can keep them at our new store during the winter months. What experience do folks have with these and what would you buy if you were doing it today? Price is a consideration but so is quality.
I’m guessing that “storage lift” probably implies a 4 post affair, but I use my two post asymmetric Rotary brand SPOA-10 (10,000 lb) lift for storage of Isabel.
The upside is that I also use it as a working lift to do anything and everything. And that is my point, a two post lift is a lot more flexible, maybe you will want to consider one.
Get one of thoes nifty underground units! It will be like your little secret cougar hideaway!
I want one of thoes, Ill paint the garage floor like the aircraft carrier flat top and set the landscape lights to flash like a run way. Now all I need is the catapult!
I was eyeballing a Bendpak lift for quite some time. Then I discovered Mohawk. Now I am lusting after one of them. The fact that they are made a couple hours from where I live rather than China has something to do with it. But even aside from that, they are a much better made product. The shop across the street from my office has three of them that were originally purchased by the owners dad. In 30 years they have only had routine service and never needed any sort of repair. Of course the drawback, and there always is one, is they are expensive. But if I’m going to put a 3500lb car up in the air and let my kids stand underneath it I want something that’s overkill rather than within spec.
In the planning process right now. 2600 sq ft with 4 bays. It will be a wet dream come true. Hoping to get started in the next couple of months. Hoping for 2 4 post lifts and 1 2 post.

Have to start a thread on your build.
Sounds like fun.
i have two superlift—one std and one narrow one—both 4 post—i do not agree that 4 posts are hard to work with—especially if you changig cars all the time----all you have to do is get it on the lift—no ballance issues and no wories if you remove a bunch of weight the car will topple off----the 4 post is great for working under the dash—just bring it up to waist level and no posts in your way-------make sure you spend the $$$ for one set of aluminum ramps—you’ll eat up the difference in cost on chiropractor bill in no time
doctordesot
ps—a new vette or lotus wont get on a two poster w/o driving it on ramps first
Not to speak for Bill but from a few comments he made to me they were Italian? made, and had “old world craftsmanship” (i.e. parts from one would not fit the other). Other than perhaps being a good value for the money I got the feeling that he did not otherwise recommend them.
I’ve heard of the Mohawk from guys here. They look good. I HAVE a Back Yard Buddy lift and it is great. 7000lb. 4 post, extended height, 220 motor. No issues at all. Get drip trays, enought to cover the entire area between the ramps.
My boss just ordered a MaxJax for his garage. Everything I read about them says they are perfect for low clearance in a garage and easy to assemble/disassemble
