Doing some boat upholstery repairs and stumbled onto this guy/technique(s) I was unaware of. A touch similar to repairs I’ve attempted in the past (sketchy results) on door panels, but he uses a heat set filler paste instead of air-cure. This allows re-texturing the cured material to blend graining after installation. Also he uses oil based topcoats to color match. The site is intended for professionals to learn from… great instruction. I also found a supplier that seems to have the materials/tools. Hope this helps someone.
