Vinyl top guru in Oregon or Nor Cal?

This winter I want to have a vinyl top installed on my 71’ Mustang.

It isn’t something I feel comfortable placing in inexperienced hands. Anyone have a suggestion? Portland OR down to Sacramento CA.

Figure with houndstooth tops on Cougars there has to be someone around who can do a tidy install.

Try watching the video that Don at WCCC has on YouTube. The guy they have do it for them is in Oregon and off the top of my head I am not sure if they say the shops name. Don or anyone at WCCC would know.

I found the video, looks like it was uploaded 10 years ago. Original auto upholstery is the business mentioned, which I think is in Vancouver WA.

The fact that he didn’t get the seam straight and had no masking over fresh paint makes me nervous.

Digging those wheels on that Stang.

If I looked at those wheels on a wall, I would never have thought they would work on a 71.

Good to see someone putting effort into a hardtop.

More pictures?

I had it out this weekend for a car show and didn’t take pics of it. I will have it out again in a week or two once I finish up the carb cheater install. More pics then…

On the vinyl top- I’d also consider going to Reno / Carson City NV.

Anyone have a west coast vinyl top guru?

The fact that he didn’t get the seam straight and had no masking over fresh paint makes me nervous.

Yeah, I wouldn’t necessarily reccomend them (that’s my car). The glue can be cleaned up easily enough, but the crooked seam was disappointing. Maybe I just got unlucky on that day.

You could try Top-n-Trim Upholstery in Troutdale, they did the 1971 Cougar convertible top installation in another WCCC video. That’s much more difficult than a vinyl top install, and they took their time and did a nice job.
