Side Oiler… Sounds like the name of one of those really cool blues musicians. Only in this case it was the other guys that ended up singing the blues…
Wellington Blue, (on Mustangs they called it Presidential Blue) was not a popular color in 1968. Out of over 23,000 XR-7’s only 932 were Wellington Blue. Maybe it was the times and maybe it was the fact that there were so many colors to chose from, but it makes this a very rare cat. Among XR-7 GT-E’s there were exactly 3 built in Wellington Blue with Dark Blue leather. Chances are good this is the only one you will ever see…
Speaking purely for my own experience, watching this car come to life has been a real treat. I have never seen a car come together so quickly and so well. As with any great piece of art, the best way to describe it is to shut up and it speak for itself.
I would certainly be happy to have any one of these parked in my garage.
And good luck with rehab T3. Will you have access to the internet while you’re there?
These are all fine examples. I think I got to use background and artistic quality of photos as a tie-breaker, which still makes it a tough choice. Nice cars, all of them.
It looks like Jan’s 68 has hit high gear and is pulling away from the pack. The entries in this race are all winners in their own rite. Great looking selection.
