WCCC '67 Cougar GT Giveaway - Official Thread

I would love this Cougar to restore it to its former glory. I’m 15 (about to be 16) and i live in miami, FL the reason I like these Cougars (actually alot of classic cars too) is because they have individuality,( unlike now days cars that most look very similar) and because they are so darn cool. I have a very large arsenal of weapons…I mean tools to tackle this job. I have worked on many cars with my dad and know alot about fixing them. I own a small internet business selling used computers and have money to buy parts. By the way would a engine from a 78 Thunderbird diamond jubilee edition fit this car? This would be my first car And I would do anything to get one of these. Thank you---- David

Hey Jeremy! Thanks for joining in. Sounds like you do have the support staff needed, one year to complete sounds pretty ambitious but I have seen it done before. Post a pic of your brothers car, maybe tell us a little more about yourself. I am thrilled some younger guys are interested in this old wreck! Thank you for sharing in my passion to save her.

Wow. I don’t know much about Fast Fine Classics but their website looks good. It would be great if they get it to restore and auction it with the proceeds going to Habitat. They should also be required to do a build thread and a couple of tech videos. They look to be the kind of outfit that will have the skills, funds and facility to complete the project.

How come we don’t know who these guys are? Or am I the only one? They certainly don’t seem to have a lack of Cougars.

No Al, you’re not the only one. I never heard of them until seeing the video. I agree, they do have a nice array of Cats (I see what appears to be a couple of R code 68 1/2’s  ). John

I’ve never heard of them either and I’m not strictly a Cougar guy. I keep tabs on a LOT of pro shops.

But what they’d like to do is commendable.

Hi guys, Greg here - thanks for watching our video! While I wish all that we work on are Cougars, at the shop we actually do everything from pre-war to exotics (gotta keep the lights on, lol). We are doing a 68 Montego J code 4 speed convertible right now (1 of 17), but the Cougars in the videos are mine. I do have two 68 1/2 R codes, but only one is in the video, the one on the left. The one on the right is a restomod my 14 year old son and I are doing together for his first car. My other R code is a Cougar 500 and is at the house with a few others.

This charity is very special to me, and restoring the Cougar (my passion) to raise money for our charity, would be the best of both worlds.
Thanks so much for your interest and support.

Wow, that was a great video submission! You guys seem well-equipped to do a great restoration on this car, and I like that it would all be going towards a good cause.

CCOA members can read more about Greg in the current issue of At the Sign of the Cat.

Good luck, Greg. If you win, perhaps the CCOA can get into a joint venture with WCCC to chronicle the restoration.

Greg, that is a great video and are you in the video? Also Habitat for humanity is a charity that is fantastic and I can see why it is special to you. Best to you in this.

Some of you met Greg at the Barrett Jackson party in AZ this past January. What a fantastic collection of Cougars!

Wow! That submission checked all the boxes in my opinion. I have no doubt they are equipped to do the job and understand what they are getting into. Because it is a fundraiser they will get all kinds of parts for free and probably a bunch of labor too. The video submissions hold my attention well and it is great to see faces attached to names. It also shows some initiative as it takes time to post a video. Fantastic Submission! The bar has been set…

(hypothetically )I’d love to see this car auctioned off for charity at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. And I’d bet they’d LOVE to do it without any fees

Just a thought…

Agreed, they would be able to raise more with all of the marketing that goes with those auctions as well.

sounds like a “everybody wins” scenario

I loved the video and certainly can attest to Greg’s passion for cars and knowledge about Cougars.

The press from the Auction could certainly be a great way to help build additional national attention for the cougar community. The thought if them waving the fees also sounds like a win, if they agree. Tech articles should be a must no matter who wins the car. I wonder if Hemmings or one of the national auto magazines would do a spread on the car once finished.

It will be great to see this 1967 GT 4 speed car brought back to life.

If this is the 1st submission, I can’t wait to see additional videos.

Seems like a great way for WCCC to get some national press too. This contest should be over if all this could be pulled together.

X2

To Greg and the guys at Fast Fine Classics, I will donate a complete headlight kit for the car to charity, if you win the contest. I travel through Florida a lot, so I may drop in and help install.
