I think the point system that Andrew came up with worked very well. That way none of the judges were influenced by the others that made for a clear winner. Finding the top three out of the entries was difficult for me and took a few days. Nice to see all the candidates with the skills to restore a car like this in the Cougar hobby. Congratulations to Lucas! Now Lucas is in phase II
what did I just get myself into ![]()
Wow! This was really a lot of fun! If I had 3 cars to give, I see at least 3 folks who would be up for the task. Lucas, if you stay plugged into this site and update us often, I think you will be surprised with how much help you get. The “right” parts car will be key. I can see you getting one from the East Coast that is rusted out but has a good interior and electrical and one from the West Coast that is solid but crispy. The beauty with a well bought parts car is that you can often recoup much of the initial cost by selling individual parts left over. The only real obstacle I see with this project is the console and when the time comes for that bridge to be crossed I would be happy to take less for this one and take trades so as to make it easier for you. We all as the Cougar community really look forward to the day that this car is featured on the cover of the WCCC calendar. Lets do this!
Got a question for WCCC: who’s responsible for shipping (and paying for shipping) of the car from Salem to the new owner? I presume Lucas is, but I didn’t see it in the fine print at the beginning of the thread.
Shipping is free as long as you can wait until we happen to be heading that way with an empty trailer! Anyone in WI that is planning on buying large items from WCCC in the near future can potentially save some money on shipping if they get with Lucas and WCCC can place said items inside the car. Lucas most likely will be paying the $900 to have it delivered as he would like to get it out of the elements sooner than I can get it to him on the free plan.
