The 69 looks like it’s a beauty as well. Looks like Don’s been holding out. Good to see progress as well on the GTE vert. Looking forward to seeing more of this one.
Wow! That is a dated picture! See those grade A deck lids all in a row? Now we have 3 in stock! That 69 Q code looked good until you noticed someone had put repro 1/4’s on it, shame as it would have been a nice car. GTE is stone still has not moved an inch and no plans. Growing this business has been a long, hard, time consuming and at times stressful venture. This time of year is really hard as I am doing the tax scramble thing. 5 kids on top of it all and I can barely afford to pay attention. No different than many of you… I get calls all the time from guys who put their hobby on the back burner for years and then one day call me when the last kid is in college to say they are finally ready to pick it back up. It’s all good, I don’t want to wish my ky precious children’s lives away, my daughter is making googly eyes at a young man on a skateboard and they are talking marriage, YIKERS! Where did the time go!!!
I can understand family and business taking place in front of a project. Kids grow fast so we need to enjoy the blessing that they are.
Don do you have any pictures of the car other than what’s on you site? If so I would love to see them.
Steven
me too!
Don, Do you still have the 69 Q code? Is it for sale and do you have any pictures of that as well?
No… That was years ago. It has changed hands a few times since 2004 when I had it.
Only 8 years of dust to wash off that GTE convertible now! Don, I know the feeling well. I just moved one of my project cars out of my front garage after 10+ years! Ouch…where did the time go…
Yup… Just in that stage of my life. We are full into Upwards Basketball and Jr High Basketball right now. I cannot count how many times guys have called me and said “Well… I put the project on hold for years, now the kids are out of the house and I can finally get back on it!” Yes I would like to do stuff for myself right now but I am not going to do it at the sacrifice of missing out on some of the best years with my 5 kids!
Don, your a smart man, enjoy these years, the car is as snug as a bug and will be there for you later when it is time to have some me time. You may even get generous and decide to give it away for the best essay.

Upwards Basketball? I am into my second season as a coach for my daughter’s team, I really like the league for the younger kids, but my 6th grade boy only has 2 teams in his league. Between coaching BBall, soccer and flag football I haven’t been able to do all of the upgrades that I had planned. My car sat in the garage for 3 years before I was able to make time to get it back on the road, now I make it a point to drive my kids to practice in it. (It was worth the wait)
I am waiting to see the GTE when you finish it, but until then maybe I can keep you busy with a couple of parts orders.
