WCCC Photo Contest 2016!

Boy, that color snaps in THAT picture…

I know! And every year I’m like “oh, I should get a new camera!”… but then they announce something new and shiny, so I wait. Next thing you know a decade has come and gone and the old camera has been replaced by a handy cell phone :-/

Andrew, I have 40 photos on photobucket of my last years photoshoot; your free to use any you like …

Ooo, those are nice! Thanks for sharing … although the files on your photobucket are way too small for print, but maybe you have the originals stashed somewhere?

Yes, I have the originals, but they are still not as big as you want. They’re all only 1800 x 1200. Let me know which if any originals you’d like and I can email them to you. I’ll also need your email address; you can PM it to me if you like. Or … I could put them all into DropBox for you to access.

Please consider my submission of our 1970 XR7 for the contest. If you decide that you need more photos of the interior or other angle… please let me know.

Could you edit the address for the photographer? It should read West Branch Iowa

Fixed it for you! The little pencil icon on the right side on the same line as the title is the edit button. You can edit a post for the first 24 hours or so after it is up. Welcome to the forums, Great looking Cougar!

Here are a couple more cool but unusable entries.

This one didn’t meet the resolution requirements, but dang what a cool car. Good lighting and backdrop too.

This one gets an A for effort and originality, but it’s more of a sky shot than a car shot. And I’d have to crop out most of the sky to make it fit the calendar format. Also, the car is a bit distorted due to the wide angle, and when you look at 100% it’s very grainy due to the low light / high ISO compensation. That said, I still think it’s a really cool idea!

That is a cool looking picture. I did this one yesterday, I think it turned out to be more of a back ground shot then of the car. Some cropping and it could be a good shot.

I have a little older Nikon. Can you live with 10.2 MP?

I think that will be ok as long as the image quality is good and no cropping is needed. The finished size of the calendar is 12"x12", and at 300dpi (standard for print) that will still fit the width. I came up with the 12 mp minimum partially to weed out crappy cameras, and also based on this chart which shows print size (in) vs. megapixels:

12 seemed safer because often a little cropping is needed. But if your 10.2 mp pictures kick ass, I’ll certainly consider them!

And it’s over! Holey moley. I got over 200 emails (many were multiples from the same people, sending batches of photos) and well over 500 photos in total. What a great response! Definitely exceeded my expectations. It’s going to be hard to choose the winners. Bear with me while I sift though everything.

As of right now, I have at least 3, maybe 4 open spots to fill in the calendar, so there will be more than one winner. I’m thinking about keeping that a surprise until the calendar gets printed. Is that too much suspense? Haha…

Thanks to everyone around the world who participated! I got a lot of shots from Australia, a couple from Germany and Sweden, one from Chile, and of course a ton from all over the US and Canada. I enjoyed seeing them all, and hearing the owners’ stories. I have my work cut out for me now!

I’ll probably post some of the ones that I liked but didn’t make the cut for one reason or another. Stand by!

I’ve put together an album of some of the better contest entries. Check them out here

Three winners have been chosen and added to the calendar. I’ve also put together an “honorable mentions” page. The calendars are going to print next week, and should be ready to ship the week after that, so I’ll keep you in suspense a little longer. :smiling_imp:

Thanks for doing this Andrew! There were a bunch of us that had a great time with it!

I can’t wait to see the calendar.
