I need to butt weld a couple if small patches into the inner fender apron inside the engine compartment. What can I do to protect the engine and rest of the car from spatter? The patches are only about 1 1/2 " square just ahead of the hood hinge on each side. I have a flux core wire feed welder.
Use a welding blanket or a thick wool or damp cotton blanket. I’m sure you know that flux core puts off a good bit of splatter. There is also anti-splatter spray that keeps splatter from sticking.

Cover up any glass from welding splatter.
Thanks for the input, guys. I used some wet blankets and it seems to have protected everything.
