West Coast Classic Cougar Website

Does the search box work on WCCC’s website? Nothing I search for yields results. I’ve searched by year, 1968 and no results are found for anything. I’ve searched hood, emblems, door, lights and lock. Is it just me?
Steven

I don’t find stuff on the first try always, even when I know it’s listed, but just did a search on “radio” with the 1968 filter on, and got the correct radio stuff.

It usually takes me 2 or 3 trys, and none of the videos load from the main page, I just go directly to youtube, but I just figured it was because i’m on a mac :smoke:

I use a Mac as well. Maybe that’s the issue.
Steven

I don’t think it is just you Steven or because you use a Mac, I think the WCCC search engine is fairly weak, at least that has been the conclusion I have come to after using it to search over a fairly long time (years). JMHO…

I always scroll down on the main page and go through the categories, instead. Search doesn’t work well for me, either.

I’ve found that if you type whatever into the search, then click the search button instead of hitting return on your keyboard, it works quite well.

I have no trouble finding what I look for, But then I have spent most of my career in auto parts.

The engine is dead! It sucks to say the least.
You try and put in a part & it insists on a year. Then you can’t hit ENTER as it just goes dumber! You have to use the mouse to hit a button. Very “old” interface. I used to send info to them, but it never seems to change. Maybe they don’t care?
This issue along w/ atmospheric prices, no discount for us in the industry, well they know why lots of us go else where.

I have had issues looking up parts at times also and I dont have a Mac. Prices seem to be in line on the items I have look up on other sites.

I think Don and Co. are simply lonely and want everyone to call them up and talk to them…

They can charge whatever they need to, they’re in business to make money. That being said, I got an email about a month ago that included “lower price on restored trim”. I’ve been checking the '68 trim since then and so far I haven’t seen any lower prices.

Searches seem to work fine for me.

I know, I’ll start a search service. 5 bucks per search.

I don’t have a Mac, I have NEVER been able to find anything on a search in the last 3 years, ever since they improved their site. Improve?

It is the WORST, I just call, if I do find something on their site, it’s only by chance, and I considered it a miracle.

I struggle every time I visit the site. It’s very frustrating.

Wow hard to believe you guys are talking about the same WCCC cougar parts catalog site that I use. I think the site is totally awesome, and I use it ALL the time to search for parts and for reference for what is correct for a 1967, 1968, 1969, etc. It is very easy to find what you are looking for, and then access the links to the WCCC videos. I was just searching on the idler bearing pulley parts this evening, and found what i need in less than 1 minute.

I don’t usually have trouble with the WCCC search, but for my last few visits it hasn’t actually been searching. It seems to just take me back to the home page every time.

Example: Looking for a brake light circuit breaker.
On the WCCC site it shows nothing in a search
Go to Electrical & Lighting - then to Switches, Relays & Circuit breakers
then to Circuit Breakers & Relays.
Search engine always shows the least related parts first.
In this case is shows 4 brackets (non related to brake lights) & 2 relays. Again no relation to “brake lights”
NO circuit breakers!!!

So go to Google & type in “Cougar brake light circuit breaker”

GUESS WHAT!! 3 items down is this
http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/store/p/13806-Circuit-Breaker-Stop-Light-15-AMP-Used-1969-1970-Mercury-Cougar.html

So, search engine threw a rod & it leaks stuff unimportant to us!!!

I do have one thing to say in favor of WCCC. They have spent time on a incomplete site. Seems like no updates or corrections, BUT the pictures are very helpful to most of us.

Just wish the simple things like listening to the users of the site, AND actually looking at @ doing something about that button on the top of the site “REPORT SITE ERRORS” when someone uses this!

So hopefully WCCC is actually reading the feedback, and is really going to do something about these issues.

Sure would help pay for all the workers @ WCCC.

Please fix the issue w/ the enter key after typing in the search window!

Why do we have to use mouse & click on button that is now not even on the same line!

7Litre- I do have lots of Cats, but occasionally need new parts for my many customers. Glad there are others out there beside the arrogant Ken!

WCCC site is the best I found to learn & enjoy Classic Cougars: so many parts available and never any issue finding what I am looking for and/or be told when not available. But I have to admit that this is a hobby for me (as opposed to being a job like it seems to be for others) so I do not need to find instantly. In fact I enjoy surfing and reading this site as opposed to others that do not take any care in presentation & teaching. So yes some parts are more expensive at times… but there is no obligation at all to buy while the coaching remains available for free… I have not found this service anywhere else.
