Well, I’m cleaning and revisiting my 428 before painting and reinstallation. There is a 12 stamped by the oil filter adapter along with a 12 written on the block under the paint on the right side by the freeze plug. Is there a reason? Seems pretty coincidental. I traced it to see it better.
The exhaust manifold gaskets mean the motor has been rebuilt at least once so the 12 is something that was done by a rebuilder long after the car was new.
Those gaskets are mine that I was going to use until I learned that it supposed to be silicone sealer.
The gaskets were not installed by Ford. They use Lithium grease and it seems to work well.

Silicone sealer had just been invented, but was not widely used yet back when our cars were built.
