What RPM does your automatic '67 - 71 Cougar shift at?

Long ago I put a C6 behind my 289 base '67 Cougar. It never downshifted under full throttle as it should. A couple of years ago, I got around to figuring that one out (linkage issue inside) - only to discover it would not upshift during full throttle. A slight lift and upshifting would be fine. That has bugged me enough that recently in swapping out the short-block with a roller 302 and updating alternator, accessories and the like, I’ve gone to the only old-timer in town that knows the right way to fix trannies (40 years in the business) and via a simple valve body swap all was remedied. It’s now shifting at perhaps 5700 - 5800 RPM. That’s a bit higher than I’d like with the cam I’m running - it’s running out of steam perhaps 200 RPM lower.

I’m curious how the old Ford engineers programmed these trannies back then.

Please share what your car does - please list year, engine, transmission and full throttle upshift RPM. The Windsor family of motors may be more representative (preferably the higher output ones), but any information is good no matter what.

Thanks
