What’s the Redline on the speedometer?

Just got my 69 cougar!

looking at her cluster. She has no tach, but has a speedometer with a redline starting around 60mph. Is this correspondingly to any redline with the tach? Or is it just to go with the 55mph speed limit that was enacted way back when?

Also, I have some toggle switches that are immobile, obviously for the higher trim. What did these switches on the dash go to?

Any other additional new owner pointers, tips, advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks all in advance,

So it doesn’t sound like yours is an XR7 since it has no tach. Standard Cougar would not have the center pod rocker switches. So I’m not sure which toggle switches you are asking about. Can you attach a picture? 55 mph national speed limit didn’t yet exist in 1969. Redline on the factory speedometer started at 70 mph. Enjoy your Cougar!
