Considering the condition of the buildsheet posted above I don’t see the reason to clean it. On many others, the condition is bad enough to the point were they can’t be read completely.
Just an opinion from the guy that wrote the article

Aw…what does he know??
Thanks for the quick and funny reply!!
Hi. Looks like that’s WT7819 Green Metallic, a fleet color listed in Ford’s 1970 special order paint selector. There was a 70 Boss 302 also painted fleet green and is featured in Old Cars magazine, Vol 54 May 1, 2025.
Nah…there’s nothing metallic about my paint. In fact, Post #14 in this thread describes my discovery of the build sheet that revealed the color as WT7194. WT and MX designations are special order (or commercial) paints.
I’d imagine they’re very similar, but WT7194 falls between WT7000 and WT7999, indicating that the color shade is in the Green category. Metallic green codes are WT7800 and up.
It’s in the green category for sure! Looks like a very well preserved and original Cougar! That’s the first pic I’ve seen showing how the trunk mat is supposed to fit around the evap emissions vapor separators. Any underhood pics? Thanks for sharing!
had one of those in the70’s been looking for another one since. only found 4 and they were flower pots.one time i had to get it touched up and the shop thought it was grabber green but wasn’t , took 3 days to figure it out and called it197 green.
If this was directed to me…thanks for the kind words! I was very fortunate to have found Jalapeño. I wasnt really looking for a green car, but I love it now.
Underhood:
Yes, thanks! It looks great and ready to go! At first I thought it was too much green too. But what you have is truly unique, and a documented original! And it’s truly a color of the times.
