I have customer whom wants an AOD in his convertible Cat. I usually have them rebuilt locally, but lately shops have been taking months to do simple 1 week job. If you were going to buy a basic AOD ( read NO racing, just a simple B&M shift kit) from a online place where would you go?
I’ve dealt with monster transmissions before. It wasn’t an aod it was a Gm tranny and it was for a higher horsepower application. They might not be the cheapest but I found them reasonable, they have a warranty, and at the time anyways free shipping in the US. I live just across the border so they shipped it close to the border and I ran across and grabbed it. If your local guys arent cutting it I would look at them.
Thanks for the pointers! I have had very good results w/ the basic B&M shift kit. Not too harsh shifts.
I had an AOD built for the wife’s Cat & the guy decided to install a kit that about broke your neck & each shift was accompanied by a chirp & the car moved sideways. Not what she wanted. Thus the B&M kit which has worked perfectly for over 20 years in my vert! If it works use it!
Thanks, Bill
P.S. I have a newly rebuilt AOD-M w/ deeper gear set and a aggressive shift for sale!!!
I’ve used the b&m kit before, with pretty good results. I have also used the TCI which I prefer more. Now, I would just use the constant pressure valve body. No more worries about the TV cable, firmer shifts, more adjustability as far as part throttle shifts. Well worth $300 for what you get, and you no longer have a kickdown that also controls line pressure.
TCI makes several levels of AOD from a street tranny to all out racing, and are available from many of your speed (shop that is) suppliers.
