I am finally getting to the end of restoring the trunk floor and putting in new quarter panels into my 72 convertible. Anyway, I am in the process of painting the trunk floor. Thanks to Badcatt and J speegle I have pictures of the original paint. My question is where can I fine the Zolatone paint or something similar. I had bought some speckled paint from Eastwood, but it is too light. The trunk paint seems to be fairly dark. Any help is appreciated in finding a source. I do prefer the rattle-can as opposed to buying a whole quart.
Thanks guys and stay safe.
Try Eastwood.
I have one from Eastwood but it seems too light. Do you have a shade? Maybe I ordered the wrong one.
Thanks

Will provide you a bunch of available color combinations to choose between. Limiting your selection to rattle cans will limit you options. Also be aware that many choose to top coat (once fully dry) the Zonatone to allow it to hold up to the use , bumping and rubbing some areas may receive.
J, can you please tell me where you bought your paint. All that I can find is a gallon of the paint. A quart is more than what I need but a gallon is way too much.
Thanks
Unfortunately check my receipts and it won’t help since the supplier no longer carries the product I used. I choose to respray with the lighter of two colors used that year and since what I could find was only two color my lacks the white specks in the final look (left side of the picture below. I shot it with a “kit” for about $50. In the kit I got a quart and shot across the area over the top of the tank just because I had enough product mixed.
Looking around this morning I see Krylon (under the name of and Duplicolor both offer speckled paint in rattle cans also but getting the right colors will be either a guess or a buy and test exercise
Krylon is marketed under - Coarse Stone Texture Finish Spray Paint and Duplicolor under - Spatter Trunk Paint
J, thank you for getting back to me. I did find (and try) the Duplicolor but it is a little light, but will work if I don’t have another option. I may try to find the Krylon and see how that looks. Your trunk looked perfect so I was trying to find the same paint, but I can only find it by the gallon. Waay too much. Thanks again for the feedback.
Check Napa. They used to carry Zolotone and may still. It comes in a quart or gallon. I use a pressure pot to apply but a 2.0 nozzle will work on a conventional sprayer. You will want to apply a couple coats of clear to protect it.
I will check NAPA to see if they have a quart of what I need. In the clear, I imagine that you use a matte finish clear coat?
Thank you
A flat or satin will work fine light full coats so as to not disturb the underlying layers
Thanks guys, tried NAPA, but no luck. TCP has it but again only by the gallon. May try the Krylon route, the Duplicolor was a little bit too light. I really appreciate the feedback
