This is the car: 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7G at Harrisburg 2023 as S198 - Mecum Auctions
It sold for $44K plus fees. The car was originally Diamond Blue but is now Calypso Coral. It was optioned like a Hertz G but was never a rental car. I think the buyer got a decent deal and hope to update the Registry soon.
It looked an awful lot like longtime DCC member Wayne Wachter. He owns (or owned) two XR7-Gs.
I’ve reached out to him and haven’t heard back but I’m pretty sure it was Wayne that bought this one.
It hammered at $40,000, so the $44,000 is with fees.
That seems like a great deal for that car.
