This has been coming for a long time. Older operating systems like Windows 7 and Many or the Apple OS are no longer supported meaning that they have stopped doing security patches and other updates. Once that happens the browsers like Firefox and Chrome no longer support the older operating systems so you get stuck with older versions of the browser that may have security issues. And the software developers like Discourse that created the software the forum runs on have to move forward as well. Eventually the differences build up to the point that older systems are just not compatible with the current versions of anything.
I have complained and asked for a work around but the future appears to have caught up with us.
I don’t know about your specific issue. You can follow the link and it does explain what needs to updated on your system. In my case I need a new browser at a minimum.
The vast majority of people are not seeing this message. They have updated on a regular basis and are not effected. I started a thread about this and you can see the responses there.
With Windows 7 I down loaded and installed the Supermium browser and it appears to work great. No obnoxious notice.
I do have Windows 7, thanks for the help.
