Window Sticker Shock , what did your Cat(s) cost when new ?

I didn’t see this topic, so I thought I d start one here!

What did your cat sell for when new?

I’ll start with a ‘68 I currently take care of.

This is definitely on the high end of the bar!

Very cool to be able to identify the order type from the Marti Report
This was ordered as a Dealer -Demonstrater
Vs the more typical retail or stock order

12% sales tax? Are those dollars in Canadian or US dollars?

I believe it’s the added cost for a Canadian export.

Someone else might be able to clarify
Here is a copy made from this site (Window Sticker Generator)
I added rear defroster , although not original
It sports one now

Wow! I just did the “dream Cougar” window sticker generator for my car, and it looks like it would have been about $3,945 when new. It’s just a base '68 with a short list of common options.

Question on the “deluxe wheel covers” - I’m assuming that’s just the normal hubcaps? What happened if you didn’t select any hubcaps? You’d just get the plain steel wheels with nothing on them?

Also fun to calculate the equivalent price today with inflation. Apparently mine would be $28,688 in 2018 dollars. 7.0 Litre Kid’s GT-E would be $44,854. Wow! Source: Inflation Calculator

Here is the Marti reproduced window sticker for my Cougar.

More new than a lot of Fords that are way more valuable now, like Shelbys and Boss 9 Mustangs.

Here’s my original ford invoice from my '69 convertible. Notice the price differences.
invoice0001.pdf (793 KB)

I have 2 original window stickers for my cars. First one is for Ginger, not near GTE money, but still not a cheep car at $4731.40.

And or the 71 Blue Upbeat interior XR-7, No where the number of expensive options but still not cheep at $4549.20.

I need to get invoices and or elite reports for my convertible and CJ cars to see what they cost.

Adding to the collection, here is the Marti reproduction window sticker for Q-vert. Marti told me that the original would not have had the prices on it, as they had not yet been determined when my car was released. He gave me option of doing that way, or adding the prices that were later finalized.

I notice that mine went through the same dealer as Trixie’s - Midland Auto in Midland, Texas. The address now has a U-Haul store.

$4182.41 was the dealers cost from the factory. Not sure what it was to the original owner.

Just the other day I found the receipt from when Mom got her 69 Mustang in June of 1969. Figured you guys would get a kick out of the comparison. She picked it up from dealer inventory, didn’t order it special or anything.

It was $2740 (give or take, I can look the exact number up later) out the door – tax, title, everything…

That got her a 1969 Mustang Sportroof with an AM radio, full wheel covers, tint, and a 351-2V.

Hopefully Dad’ll have the brake issue sorted (old line finally let go on the last drive) and we’ll get to take it for a short cruise again this summer.

So I checked my 2 that I have the window sticker price for and;
For Ginger in Nov 1969 it was $4732.40 Today would be $32,856.44

For the Blue 71 in 1971 it was $4549.20 Today would be $28,178.06

Imagine radial tires were a no cost option? What was that all about?

rcode

It was a liability thing😜
They were still experimenting with them at our enjoyment

Hmm…

Yet another '70 SCJ Eliminator:

^^^ I know that Eliminator!

And another '70 SCJ Eliminator

$4567.20 is what the Marti report says for our 69 XR7
