Windshield molding and other molding removal

I’ve seen various tools for sale at harbor freight and other places but was wondering if there is a particular method for removing window trim. Being the original trim I don’t want to just dive in without some suggestions from those that have done this.
I’m likely over worrying but searched YouTube and such and had no luck. Also is it recommended to place new clips before reinstalling. I let a body guy do this once and I don’t feel he was as careful as I would have been. I don’t plan to remove the glass but I vaguely recall I had to remove a windshield years back to put new clips in. No rust around windows so hopefully old clips are fine. Thanks for any advice.

Unfortunately there is no magic for removing the trim. Be careful you don’t pry against it with the pointed part of the tool. And don’t be afraid to use a little force. It takes quite a bit to get some of those clips to let loose. I worked up a pretty good sweat taking the trim off a ‘68 rear window that had never been off.

Lol.
It just dawned on me. The 74 dart bundy reference.
I had a feeling it’s going to take some cautious force.
Wish this weather would break - looking forward to tackling this.

If you aren’t taking the glass out, don’t bother replacing the clips. The originals are reputed to be a little better than the repops. As long as they are all in place and not broken, don’t worry about it.

Most people miss that. Somebody asked me once why I would drive a Dodge when I have all those Cougars.

Peggy would not have it any other way…
