Windshield polish with Eastwood

I’ve had some of Eastwood’s glass polish sitting on the shelf for a while and finally decided to go for it. 50 years had taken their toll on the outside of the glass but there weren’t any significant chips or deep scratches so I decided to see what this stuff would do.

I wasn’t able to really get a good before and after pic so these will have to do until I can get the car outside (at least for the end result). The ‘after’ pic especially doesn’t show how crystal clear the glass is now but I can tell you this stuff worked miracles.

BTW - Whoever it was that suggested the claw hammer trick to pop the windshield wiper arms off - that was perfect. Very little force required.

Nice. That’s on my list for my rear glass as it’s out now. Plenty to do before I get to that point though.

Does not do much on tempered glass except remove water spots. Its best use is for light wiper burns. If you got the patience you can get out deeper issues on windshields but you will create an optical distortion.

I should say that my windshield was mostly just foggy, not scratched or chipped. It had one noticeable scuff that looked like a wiper mark that was right in my line of sight. All that’s gone now.

It took about an hour of actual polishing to go over the entire exterior surface twice. Make sure you get the interior surface as clean as possible before you start and don’t skip the respirator. You definitely don’t want that stuff in your lungs.

Looks good, I was wondering if that stuff actually worked and almost tried it myseld. I had a bunch of water spotting on my glass that I couldn’t get off in the traditional way and was looking for options. I actually used crushed walnut shell hand soap and automotive wax compound with a small buffer wheel to do the trick. I dont remember where I found that info but worked very well and was free!

The windshield on my 68 has billions of tiny little pits in addition to the usual wiper scrapes. I might have to give this a try.

Thanks for the heads up!
