Recently the wipers on my 68xr7 have stopped working when I start my car in the morning. After about 15 minutes of driving, they start to work. Anyone had the same issue?
No one has chimed in with experience on that problem.
What are the things that could be affected by the engine running and by driving the car? I would think heat under the hood and vibration. If the brushes in your wiper motor are worn, the heat could help them slide a little easier in the brush holder, as could the vibration.
But I would start by checking for voltage at the motor when everything is cold and you have just turned the key to run and the wiper on. Make sure to disconnect the battery side of the coil so you don’t overheat points or electronic ignition module since you may have the key in that position for awhile.
Check that the plug on the back of the foot pedal hasn’t come loose
Perhaps it is the same problem that recently came up on the 428 GTE build thread (Projects section), there is corrosion inside the plug from the motor to the underdash wiring harness.
