Wiring a factory tach to a 5.0 transplant

Ok, I know someone has done this and actually made it work. I also would bet that it is way less complicated than it sounds with all the discussion concerning the pink resistor wire and the positive coil connection not to mention the fact that the whole mess runs bassackwards thru the ignition switch???.. Can someone explain in the simplest terms where in the heck I connect my factory tach wire to my modern harness?? Pictures would be great or a schematic or heck even crayon drawings will do. :help:

It will take a MSD 8920 tach adapter in the current triggered tach configuration: http://www.msdignition.com/Products/Accessories/Tach_Adapters/8920_-_Tach_Adapter,_Magnetic_Trigger.aspx

I have one, BNIB if you are interested!

Thanks Vert. Can you IM me with a price and you contact number??

Done.

That’s it? A Tach Adapter? I’m going to have similar issue with Coyote conversion into my '70…there is a tach output wire from ECM harness, but not sure how it would work with same wiring as stated here…Tach adapter?

The original tach’s in these cars are current mode triggered, the tach adapter allows them to be used with a voltage trigger like modern tach’s use.

Thanks for the info, sorry for jumping in on thread…

Don’t be sorry, you were right on topic!
