When I had my a/c redone, the mechanic said not to wrap the expansion valve with the cork insulation tape, but my understanding is that the systems came from the factory that way, and on most correct restorations and on the WCCC site, it shows them wrapped. Who is correct?
you don’t need to wrap the valve, but the bulb that comes from the valve over to the suction line should be wrapped to it.
So, to be clear, its ok to wrap the entire expansion valve?
You have to buy a whole roll of tape so doing it like the factory isn’t going to hurt anything or cost more. They wrapped both the bulb and the valve all together to save time.
Thank you Royce. That is what I have done. Appreciate the help!
