WTB: '68 Cougar wheels

WTB: '68 Cougar original styled steel wheels…restored or restorable.
Prefer a set of four but will consider piecing a set together.
Perhaps someone could also tell me if/how '69 wheels are different from '68 wheels other than the bezels on the inset holes.
I’m in Sunnyvale, CA
Thank you.

67-68 wheels are chrome and 69-70 wheels are painted.

Thank you, Randy. If the finish is the only difference, then I should expand my search to include '69/'70 styled steel wheels. I assume they are all 14x6.

I have a set of four with cracks in the typical areas and trim rings

Thanks for the link, but I want to use a trim ring.

Ok, thanks. I don’t know where the typical cracks occur or if they would be restorable.

I’ll attach some pictures later today

Cracks are usually found around the corners of the wheel openings, or around the rivets. I havent found anybody who will repair them.

Ok, thank you.

The 67 wheels are more prone to cracking hen the 68. They made the openings in the recesses smaller for the 1968 wheels.

The 67 wheels are 14 X 5 1/2 and will not fit a 68 or later Cougar with factory disc brakes.

Thank you.
Yes, I have disc brakes, so I need the later wheels.
I could use '67 wheels on the rear drums, but then I am limited in tire width to a ?
I found a restorer who uses new wheel cups, but he may no longer be able to get 14" cups. He asked me to send him pics of any wheels I find. I have found one '68 wheel so far.
Other than being painted, does everyone agree that the '69/'70 wheels are exactly the same in all other ways as the '68 wheels?
Thanks for everyone’s responses so far.

Update: I heard from a Cougar “expert” that the '69/'70 wheels have a slightly larger opening than the '68 wheels, but that it appears smaller due to the bezels. Now I am wondering how the '69/'70 wheels differ from the '67 wheels other than the width? Confused again.

As promised way late

Rims…only one has cracks…lug nut holes are worn pretty good

67s I guess

Yes, those are ‘67 wheels. I am looking for 14x6, but thank you for responding.

A pair of $20 wheel spacers bought from O’reilly Auto Parts will provide the clearance needed to fit 67 wheels over 68 brakes. You’ll want to upgrade your lug nuts to “reach inside” the lug holes so there is adequate thread grab.

Thank you for that. Makes sense.
