I’m interested in picking up a PI intake in good shape for an S code 390…i.e. not rotted out on the bottom. I’m not in a rush, but would like to have one in the event I refresh the motor.
Other than the weight advantage, I assume the PI has some limited performance enhancement based on input from a few FE engine builders on other forums.
Funny you should mention this, If you’re putting it on a 390 you may get better performance. If putting it on a 428CJ you may lose a little. Jay Brown did an intake shoot out and got a few less HP using the PI intake. But I would still use one if I had it. I’m not looking to dominate the 1/4 mile anyway.

Thanks…updated to reflect it would be for an S code 390. Looking at the PI to maintain factory style PCV setup, although it appears balance tube is slightly different but same style.
If I can’t find a reasonably priced PI, I don’t any concerns keeping stock iron intake to maintain originality.
You should try Jack’s Ford Parts. You can find him an the concours Mustang site.

A replacement cast iron Cobra Jet intake would make more power and torque..
Understood. For my purposes, its close enough with the PI dropping weight off front end. I was looking at a few other postings for this.
