I damaged the WCCC vinyl overlay in my '67 XR7’s toggle switch panel and need to replace it. WCCC only sells the “gloss” finish set. I am looking a set or large enough piece of the older “Satin” overlay kit that WCCC sold a few years back. Please let me know if you have set of the satin overlay, not gloss, a piece large enough for the switch panel.
You might consider some clear satin spray over a gloss finish if you can’t find a original satin finished one.
My experience with spraying any kind of aerosol on top of vinyl overlay or self-stick type of printed vinyl wrap is that it will cause it to wrinkle and shrink. Perhaps a small piece of the vinyl can be used as a test ‘mule’ to see the effect(s) of the clear satin spray on the material ?
Always better to be safe and pro-active when dealing with the interactions between sprays, adhesives/glues, preservatives, etc. on the different materials that we work with.
Best of luck with the task !
Thanks for clever tips. Satin spray may work and I do have some scraps to try it on. I would think spraying it before I apply it to the metal part would not go well. I will apply the scape piece to a small piece of sheet metal and then spray it and see how it compares to my older vinyl.
