One of the few times at this past Carlisle that I had time to walk the vendor section I found a guy that specialized in carburetors.
He asked me what I was looking for and I gave him the #s I had for the correct carb for my G.
Turned out he had it, and it needed to be rebuilt.
I went for it and it arrived yesterday.
Watta you G experts think? Is it the right carb?

Manufactured 4th week of July 1967. You tell us, does that date code fit? Looks like a fine job to me but I also see where the roll pins may be missing. What is your date of manufacture?
rcode
According to the Marti, my G was produced May 6 1968. But I’m still not clear if that is the date Smith completed it or Mercury.
Either way, the carb looks to be about 7 months too early.
Wrong carb on the G now that needs rebuilding, so this one will have to do until I run across the perfect one.

With the air cleaner in place no one will know anything about the date code. Looks pretty good on my screen.
Thanks rcode and Royce
Gonna swap carbs next week.

I recall that the fuel transfer line needs an additional kink at the back. I will check this out and see if that is a 428 only thing…
You are exactly right Bill - that was the first thing my engine builder noticed when I showed him my “new” carb.
I’ll re-use the line that is on the car currently.
Here are some more pictures of the carb.
I was testing some new camera equipment - figure these might be good to post for educational purposes.

Right carb or not, it looks great. What camera are you using the pictures are excellent
Thanks - I’ve got an older Nikon D50 SLR, but I bought a new electronic flash that I was testing.
Nice pix! – that’s the exact camera I am still using.

Isn’t the C8OF-D the 735 CFM used on the 428CJ ?
Seem to remember that engineering number on my 69…
I just purchased a NOS carb for my 68 GT and the code on it was C8OF-9510-D. I hope one of the experts here can reconfirm.
Wow, an NOS carb! Please post some detailed pictures if you can. I would love to see it.
Yes, C8OF -9510-D is the number I was given as being correct for the S code, 390 4v in my '68 XR7-G.
My mistake was that I thought the date was on the tag attached to the carb, which was missing on the one I purchased and that Kevin Marti reproduces, so my plan was to order a tag with the “correct” date. As a result, the carb I got would be considered too early for my build.
Better too early than too late!

No it is a 600 CFM carb used only in 1968 on the 390GT.
