XR7-G Fog Light wire routing over the engine

Hey G owners. I am working on installing the firewall/engine bay items on my G project and am curious as to how the G fog light wires are originally routed by the engine. When I got my G the harness was just laying across the top of the engine and followed the main harness & headlight vacuum lines starting at the clamp at the top of the LH shock tower. refer to first picture.

I’ve seen pictures of other G’s where the wires go to the front of the engine and follow the main harness & headlight vacuum lines starting at the top of the front LH fender apron. refer to the 2nd picture.

I suspect that mine is correct as it appears the intake and valve covers have never been removed when I got it.

Does the wire really just lay there or was it bundled in with the AC lines and strapped to the shock tower brace? Perhaps AC and non-AC cars were different?

Former Concours G owner her. I doubt very much that wire would have been laid over the valve covers/intake etc and been exposed to that direct heat. Makes much more sense that it would follow this Ford factory diagram:

It is correct in this diagram. It was run with the headlight wiring, etc. to the front of the car, then separated at the left headlight to continue down under the headlight assembly to the valance.

The wire supports are often missing from these 50+ year old cars. Fortunately AMK reproduces them.

My wires are actually too short to follow the headlight wiring starting at the clamp below the hood hinge. Perhaps Hertz G’s and regular production G’s had different length wires ?

Thanks for the pics. Now I see a third variation. In the last picture the wire goes over the top of the shock tower and is held by a clamp near the fender.

I am thinking that for my car at least the wire starts at the shock tower brace at the firewall and then follows the path of the headlight harness in front of the shock tower. The wiring would be retained by the straps the Royce pointed out as they would already be present on an AC car.

The straps do not last long. They come in packs of 50 with three needed per car if you have air conditioning and the fog lamp wiring. You will go through 50 of them in a couple years.
