XR7-G pinstripes

I am hoping to get a definitive answer on this. My 4-speed G is almost done at KTL. It is cardinal red with a black vinyl roof and red interior.

Should the pinstripes be white or black?

Good question! I wonder how that was determined. If the interior was white or black, I’d say match it to that. But in this case, since you have a black vinyl top, I would say go with black pinstripes to match that. Would look weird to have white stripes and a black top, IMO.

But I wonder what they did when there was no vinyl top, and the interior and exterior were in the same color family. Go with whatever contrasts best with the body color? Could the customer choose pinstripe color?

could potentially be silver? I know in 67 red cars often got silver pinstripes.

The picture of my G when it was original paint showed white pin stripe.

Cardinal Red, dark maroon interior.

Has anyone ever seen a Cardinal Red 68 Cougar with factory black pinstripes?

I had two red Cougars over the years and they both had white stripes. Dark colors got white.

I retract my earlier statement then, that looks awesome with white stripes! And not at all weird with the black top.

I would definitely go with the white if I were you. I’ve never seen red with black. It’s an XR7-G, you can’t go wrong!
