XR7-G Rader wheels

It took quite a bit of messing around but I finally have my Rader wheels with Firestone Wide-Oval tires mounted on my 68 XR7-G.
What was holding everything up was that the Rader wheel has a spacer/“washer” that goes between the wheel and where the lug nut holds the wheel on. I could not find the proper size spacer and ended up having them special made by a friend who is a tool and die maker.
They look pretty good mounted on the car.

Here is a picture of the new spacers.

I guess now that I have an extra set of lug nuts, spacers, and Rader wheels, I should think about selling them to a needy XR7-G owner that is looking for a set of Rader wheels for their G.

Beautiful car!

Glad you finally got that all worked out. Looks great, as always.

Thank you.
Now I need to paint the passenger side G mirror and put it on. Maybe touch up a couple of those rock chips as well (my friend, who shall remain nameless, keeps talking me into driving the car on road trips and I get rock chips).

Should I say, Thank you Jeff? The Wheels look great.

Scott,
The wheels and tires make your XR7-G look even more amazing…if that’s even possible.

I’m looking forward to seeing it and you this summer at the CCOA Western Regional show, June in Oakley California.

Looking good Scott.

Great looking car.

Curiousity is getting to me, do you have a price in mind?
Is the lime green 68 in the picture a G also?

Well, I know which car I’ll be throwing into the March ROTM pile…very sharp color combo. Well done!

Scott’s car was already ROTM back in 2012.

DOH. Guess I should check the history. Thanks for pointing that out, Jeff!

(Still, great car!)

Clawit, send me your e-mail and I can send you some pictures and a detailed description of the Raders that are for sale.
The Lime Frost 68 is a XR-7 GT. The yellow 69 XR-7 convertible beside that belongs to Heather.

Thanks Gavin. Heather and I are really looking forward to heading down and visiting the Stray Cats.

Scott, yoyr car is the inspiration for what B3Cat will be when restored. It’s a '68 XR-7 GT we’re doing for my wife, who wanted to change the color. I showed her pictures of your car (among others) and that’s what she decided she wanted.

We won’t do any of the G-specific stuff, just the Madras Blue and Parchment combination. Her car is going to have color-coordinated walking cats on the upper backrest area of the seats as a custom touch. We’re hoping to have it ready for Carlisle 2015.

Hey Scott - just saw this post on your Raders.

Looks awesome!!

Scott, do you know when they switched over production to the styled steel wheels? I know that the Hertz cars were equipped with the styled steel wheels, as part of the rental car prep program, but what about regular production of the G cars?

There was a recall on those wheels. Might have been at the same time as the fog lights?

Scott B. I knew about the recall on the Rader wheels due to fit and crackng. What is the story behind the recall on the fog lights? Sorry Scott F. I don’t want you to think I’m hijacking your thread.
Steven

The way I understand it - originally the Shelbys were supposed to get the Marchal fog lights and the Gs were supposed to get the Lucas fog lights.

It was discovered that the Marchals were too bright for some states so, depending on which cars were going where, the Lucas lights were put on the Shelbys and some Marchals were put on Gs. Eventually, Lucas were used on both cars.
