A Great Find. Always good to hear another one was found. I know the raider wheels are rare, but I just can’t get myself to like them. Good luck with the sale !
Thank you. I hope it goes to a good home.
Great pics! Gotta love the “anti-theft slide mount” for the Boman 8-track - my dad had one of those in his '71 LTD and two in the '70 F100 4x4 from which to hang commo gear. Had to go out about every 30-45 days and attack all the copper “leaves” with a pencil eraser to ensure good electrical connections; and I still cringe at the standing wave ratio bumps created by running coaxial cable connections through two of those contacts.
One thing I’ve noticed is that I’m starting to appreciate the Lime Frost color more… went years calling it “Slime Gold”, a perjorative for the Lime Gold desgination that Ford used on the Mustang. Still don’t know that I’d willingly own one myself; but if I were to somehow win the eBay bid on this car, I certainly wouldn’t change it.
(It would help if I had ever actually bid on anything on Flea-Bay, or even had ready cash to cover such a bid).
Somebody is going to get a real treasure.
My first Cougar was slime green and I have had a few others. Then I changed over to Augusta Green for a while. I still have a Lime Frost 68 XR-7 GT. That is a fun car.

Sometimes I just can’t help myself…Hey Royce and Don, is that steering wheel emblem pewter, or is the plating just worn off?
Fran
That is a burnished example. BTW, my stash of NOS XR7G emblems came from the same collection this car came from.
I could learn to love slime green on a G… take me all of four minutes to get over it. BTW, are these screws supposed to be there or is this a quick fix added somewhere along the line? I ask because my 68 xr7 has them on the passenger door in exactly the same spots, but not on the driver door.

The one in front is supposed to be there. The one in the rear I think is an addition, but I have seen it on many cars. Might have been done as needed during production.
Crap, I had to run out to the garage and check that out, I never really paid attention before. My G has it on both doors in the same places. Maybe something to do with the extra puff padding? ah, who knows.
Every G that I have had has them on both doors both front and rear. I also checked out my other XR-7 GT and it has them in the same places. I looked in my photos at some of my other old cars but I didn’t take photos that would identify it clearly (they were mostly exterior and engine shots).
If you look at the picture of the driver side door panel you will see that they are in the smae location as well.
I really did not say what I meant… LOL! It is more common to have both, I have never seen cars that did not have the front ones, but I have seen cars that did not have the one at the rear of the door. I also have seen door panels that only had the single screw hole on the front.
Without exception, every 67-68 std and xr7 had that provision for a screw front and rear.
I just checked my G panels and they have the screw holes on both ends as well. I could see one on the front of the panel but wouldn’t have thought there would have been on from the factory on the back side of near the door lock. With the extra padding, it does show more I guess. Now I will be looking at every panel I see.
Bring it back to the dealer Yorgle and raise holy hell, it might still be under warranty. Just sayin…
I’ll go along with zogman’s idea. While you’re at it, have them check for any TSB’s on replacing the anemic, smog-choked, lawn-mower-duty 302 in that Cobra II with a “new 5.0”. If there isn’t one, there should be. ![]()
And I’m "Just Sayin’ " ![]()
That is an outstanding pic of an XR7. Thanks to Scott it has been my screensaver since he came South to get the G car. Glad everything is working out for you. Kerry
I’m glad you like it so much. I should see if I have any more scenic backgrounds of your favourite places North of the border.
Ha! It’s now a 347 stoker.
Driver side- no holes front or rear.
Those door panels look like repro to me, if I saw good pictures I could tell for sure.
