Yea, those pics are bad, and I recently dyed them tan (from nugget gold) so that might be why they look weird. I’ll try to get some better shots and post 'em here. Before I dyed them, they sure looked every bit of 40 plus years old. They are also the same panels that were on the car when you sold it to me back in 04, so if you’ve got a REALLY good memory…
Is there a way to tell originals from repops? The backs on both of these are the old fiberboard stuff, if that helps.
Now there is a trump card the size of Texas… Gulp, I really feel like a Royce now. You are right, those were original panels on the car when I sold it to you… Anyone else have an example of no screws? I have about 60 pairs on the shelf side by side so it was real easy to walk down the aisle and check for screw holes. Quite certain the assembly manual shows screws.
That’s gotta make my car pretty rare. Anyone want to trade for an XR7-G? After all, there were hundreds of those made and only one of mine…

I will attempt to contact the buyer in a little while.
The screws used in these panels dril the holes in the door as they are installed at the factory. If the panels have no holes it is likely they were either sold over the counter or the screws did not get installed at the factory for whatever reason.
In any case if they were mine and I was restoring the car I would drill them and install the screws.
Sounds plausible, just sold my only NOS door panels about a month ago or I would check for holes on them. See if the holes are present in your doors next time you have the panels off.
I pulled off the weather shield at the back of the door and was able to confirm that there is NO hole like on the passenger side, at least for the rearward screw.
It looks like the high bidder on the San Jose barn find XR7-G E-Bay auction was a fake. It is really annoying that someone would bid and then not go through with a sale. As soon as E-Bay will allow it, I am going to re-list it. Unfortunately E-Bay will not let me do anything until the end of this week (E-Bay has a bunch of restrictions on re-listing items that should have sold).
$19,000.00 is what I have into it the car including parts and labor to prepare the car for a first start in over 34 years, as well as cleaning the car to remove the dirt and dust, inside and out, that was imbedded during its long slumber. I think they got rid of that feature, called a “second chance offer”. The problem was people would create a fraudulent auction, sell something they didn’t actually own to the highest bidder, and the second highest bidder, and the third highest bidder etc. so I’m pretty sure they eliminated that feature. If they didn’t, just a piece of advice, if you ever get a “second chance offer” on eBay cause you weren’t the highest bidder, DO NOT accept it
Scott sorry to hear the sale fell through. I can’t understand why someone would take the time to bid and not follow through with the transaction. Makes no sense to me. Oh well I hope a real Cougar lover gets a chance to own this fine cat. Good luck.

Jeff, is there any buffing of the car that would yeild a better color match with the front fenders? I know you have a great eye and skills to “try” this kind of adjustment, so I was just curious about your thoughts on this… Is the new paint also laquer based and similar style? I just wondered how much brighter/deeper the color of the original paint turned when you put a wheel to it, if it did at all?
That is the only issue I have with this car, frankly
