XR7G Mirror Restoration

Thanks Scott. I have some wet sanding and polishing to do on it still. I can’t wait to see it back together because the chrome is really going to pop next to the black paint.
Steven

Steven, thanks for the JB weld info, it never hurts to try it but, your probably right, if I touch it with a welder, it could be an irreversible decision.
Your mirrors looking really good dude! Well done…

Does your mirror need to be refinished ? There anent many out there but I have found someone that replaces the silver finish.

Would you mind sharing who that would be.

I’m assuming you’re taking about the chrome rim area of the mirror, correct? Mine is in very good shape but others might like to know who provides this service.

Steven

I think he means re-silvering the glass of the mirror.

Thanks Bob I wasn’t sure what was being asked. Either way my mirror is in good shape.

Steven

The mirror silver backing was never ment to last 50 years, when you see one that has a new finish on it this will become clear. Joyce Borrell mirror restorations 717-733-5224 they are located in central Pennsylvania.

I started reassembling the mirror yesterday. I’m pleased with the way everything turned out so far. One thing that didn’t dawn on me is the mirror gasket. I need a new one because the mirror didn’t come with one. Is the mirror gasket the same as the regular mirror? I looked on WCCC’s site and searched here and I could not find a definite answer.

Steven

Yup, same gasket.

Thanks Scott. I figured that they were probably the same but I just wanted to confirm.
